Creative wonderland

Ibiza is full of miraculous places and especially winter time invites us to discover the hidden spots of the island. Last week we met Babeth Guérin who lives in a creative wonderland in the Morna valley close to San Carlos. She is known to most islanders as the ambitious wife of the famous French sculpturist Jacques Guérin who had died five years ago in a tragic accident.

The place where she lives with her cats and dogs is a true memento of her husband’s artistic work, and you can be happy if you get the chance to visit this colourful and unique property. “It happened many times that when people arrived here for the first time they were just speechless. Imagine a big group of people and nobody is saying a word because they are so impressed by the place”, Babeth was telling us.

And it’s true, you can spend hours in the garden of Can Pere Cala and still discover some other interesting elements: magnificent plants, funny decoration and spectacular pieces of art.

The ecological-artistic parque in the Morna valley was created by Jacques Guérin and his wife over a period of more than 15 years. The sculpturist will be always remembered as one of the artists of Ibiza who substantially helped to shape the artistic position of the island. It was Jacques who in 2004 initiated the foundation of the artistic association Ruta del Arte.

Are you interested in Jacques Guérin’s poli-artistic work and in his bronze, metal or crystal sculptures?

Then feel free to call Babeth on 616 233 528...
